Tony Orrico

Web Development

Tony Orrico is a contemporary artist whose practice sits at the intersection of performance, drawing and physical endurance, where the body itself becomes both tool and measure. His work explores repetition, symmetry, limitation and balance, producing large-scale drawings generated through highly physical, durational performances.

Developed in 2005, at a time when artist websites were still largely static and documentary in nature, this project set out to create a simple, focused digital space capable of presenting the full scope of Orrico’s work with clarity and restraint. The intention was to showcase both the performative dimension of his practice and the resulting works on paper, allowing viewers to understand the process as inseparable from the outcome.

The design was conceived as a minimal and timeless framework, deliberately avoiding stylistic trends in favor of structure, rhythm and legibility. This approach has allowed the website to age gracefully, remaining relevant and effective years after its initial launch.

The project reflects an early understanding of how digital platforms could serve contemporary art—not as a layer of interpretation, but as a neutral, respectful space in which complex artistic practices could unfold. More than a showcase, the website acts as a quiet companion to Orrico’s work, supporting its presence while leaving its intensity and meaning intact.

Nearly two decades later, both the artist and the platform continue to resonate, standing as a testament to the power of clarity, restraint and long-term thinking in design.
