I AM UNBEATABLE

Donna Ferrato is an acclaimed photojournalist and activist whose work has consistently confronted issues of gender, power, violence and resilience. Widely recognized for her groundbreaking coverage of domestic violence, Ferrato has worked for major international publications including Life, Time, People, The New York Times and Mother Jones. Her photographs have received numerous awards and have been presented in solo exhibitions at museums and galleries worldwide.

I Am Unbeatable is a socially driven project with a clear and urgent mission: to raise awareness, educate and help prevent domestic violence through the sharing of real stories from real people. Rooted in Ferrato’s long-term documentary work and personal engagement, the project reframes survivors not as victims defined by trauma, but as individuals marked by strength, resistance and the capacity to reclaim agency.

Developed as a platform for testimony and advocacy, I Am Unbeatable required a communication approach capable of supporting its emotional and political weight without diluting its message. In 2014, I was commissioned to rebrand the project, developing a new visual identity and visual language designed to reinforce clarity, dignity and impact.

The objective was to create a restrained, sober and timeless framework—one that would allow images, voices and narratives to stand on their own. The visual system was conceived to support engagement at a human pace, prioritizing readability, structure and emotional respect over stylistic expression.

I Am Unbeatable reflects an understanding of design as a tool for advocacy and responsibility, where form serves content and ethics guide visual choices. More than a campaign, the project stands as an example of how thoughtful, long-term design can amplify socially engaged work while preserving its integrity.
