Verdes Records is a renowned Barcelona-based record store and independent label run by Esther Verdes and Javier Verdes. A key reference within the city’s electronic and experimental music scene, Verdes Records has played an active role in shaping Barcelona’s vinyl culture for decades.
Over the past 25 years, I have collaborated closely with Javier Verdes on a wide range of projects spanning graphic design, packaging, events and installations. Our collaboration began in the early 2000s with the design of CD and vinyl packaging for a series of compilations that have since become emblematic, including Barcelona in Dub, the Natura Music Collection, and other releases across multiple formats.
Beyond record packaging, our work expanded into the conception and design of events and immersive installations, where music, space and visual language intersect. Projects such as Alice in Wonderland and Visual Phonic explored new ways of experiencing sound through scenography, image and live performance, extending the identity of Verdes Records beyond the record sleeve.
This long-term collaboration is rooted in a shared sensibility for music, visual culture and experimentation, and reflects an ongoing dialogue between sound and design—where graphic language becomes an integral part of how music is presented, experienced and remembered.
