Converso Modern

CONVERSO, founded in 1993, is recognized as one of America’s leading dealers of modern furniture and design objects. Its curated catalog brings together works by architects and modern designers, including rare prototypes and limited-edition pieces, attracting an international audience of collectors, architects and designers.

Alongside its curatorial activity, Converso maintains a dedicated team of skilled craftsmen, undertaking museum-level restorations carried out with rigorous respect for the original materials, construction methods and the intent of each designer. This dual approach—between preservation, expertise and contemporary relevance—has become a defining element of the gallery’s identity.

Converso’s showroom, located in Greenwich Village, hosts a program of curated exhibitions throughout the year, positioning the gallery as both a commercial space and a cultural platform. The gallery has received significant editorial recognition, including a profile titled “At Home: A Modern Maverick” in the August 2003 issue of Chicago Magazine. In 2003 and 2005, previews by Ken Johnson in The New York Times highlighted Converso among a select group of 66 high-end 20th-century dealers featured in “Modernism: A Century of Style and Design” at the Park Avenue Armory.

Within this context, I was commissioned to design and develop a flexible e-commerce platform capable of translating Converso’s curatorial rigor into a digital environment. The objective was not simply to sell objects online, but to create a structured, intuitive and editorially driven browsing experience, allowing users to explore the catalog through multiple entry points while supporting seamless acquisition.

The note: The resulting platform extends the gallery’s physical experience into the digital space, balancing content, usability and commerce, and providing a scalable framework aligned with Converso’s positioning at the intersection of design, culture and collectorship.
